I think my love for cleansing oils (and ) is no longer in doubt yes? 😉 Here’s another I’ve been using for a while, and which (to my surprise) I am considering a repurchase! *gasp* I have never really used anything from Dermalogica skincare so the PreCleanse is my first. I had no expectations of it at all but let’s cut to the chase.
I love this one! 😀 If you are already familiar with cleansing oils, this is a cleansing oil. It is a makeup remover cum facial cleanser and it does the job very well. Like all cleansing oils, you have to use this with dry hands on dry skin.
I use it (dry hands, dry face; add water to emulsify a few times before rinsing). I love the scent which is lightly citrus and very refreshing at the end of the day. It cleans my makeup off without problems at all. Even waterproof mascara (although that sometimes takes a bit of work so I’d suggest you remove your mascara first).
I am quite liberal with it but I have been quite pleasantly surprised that the bottle, although looking quite small at first, isn’t finished yet after 2 months. And I use it practically every day. What might be a good thing is the packaging. It isn’t packaged as a pump bottle, but as a nozzle style dispenser. This allows you to control just how much oil you need each time. Some days I use less, some days I use more, depending on whether I have more or less makeup on. The texture is quite liquid and not thick or sticky at all.
I even use it on weekends, when I don’t wear makeup, because I just like how nice and clean my skin feels thereafter. I do double cleanse (follow up with a facial wash) all the time, and the name of the product is PreCleanse which implies you use it before any cleansing gel/foam. It isn’t drying on my skin, it cleans my skin a treat and it smells lovely. I don’t have any complaints 🙂. Pros: Light texture, Lovely citrus scent, Not drying, Cleans skin well of makeup and dirt Cons: Pricey I know there are a few Dermalogica users among the regular readers here so I’m sure quite a few of you have tried this yes? Do you like it as much as I do? 🙂 This is one of the products which Dermalogica is selling under the where some money goes towards helping women entrepreneurs on the path to financial independence.
Here is the ingredient list for anyone interested. I think I might have to suck it up and purchase this when I run out. I have seen this on in a large salon size (473ml). Maybe I should get that one 😛 Since I like this so much, do you have other Dermalogica recs that you like that you think I might like too?
Paris B Dermalogica PreCleanse retails at RM140/150ml (I think) at Dermalogica counters and stockists. I’ve also seen it sold on but I don’t know how the prices compare. Hey, I’ve used this before and like you I totally love it. However, I did not purchase due to the price. I’m currently using Cyber Colours Cleansing Oil bought from Sasa as it’s roughly about RM30+ after 20% discount (I only buy when there is a sale going on). However, for Alexandra & Stephy, I think the SA is just trying to sell you more cleansers. I’ve used oil cleansers for many years and yet I don’t have dry skin yet – I still have oily t-zones.
FYI, their SA gets commission for selling more products. I believe that having your skin ‘steamed’ when doing facials makes your skin dehydrated more. Can see the top layer of my skin is totally dehydrated – hence the SA intro other products to ‘help’ with this problem. I no longer have this problem ever since I stopped going for facials at Leonard Drake/Aster Spring Salons. I’ve been using this for years, and it has never failed me (Though I agree with you on removing mascara/eye make-up, best to remove them with a separate eye make-up remover first), so it’s my favourite cleansing oil and I’ll never find another lol 😀 I used to use mainly Dermalogica products (The Ultracalming line for sensitive skin) but after they reformulated it it broke me out so I’ve changed to Cellnique (Since my cousin owns a salon), but Precleanse is one thing I’m never without.
That, and the Daily Microfoliant. I use it about twice a week despite it’s name- you might want to check it out, and one full-sized bottle can last you up to a year @_@ I’ve got plenty of deluxe-sized samples of the Daily Microfoliant lying around, though, and I can’t finish them by myself. Right now I am using Dermalogica uneven skin tones kit I used to not like it.the smell was teribble and I don’t understand why I should use it because I bought with my own money Cetaphil fash wash.but then I try it on I think it does not make my skin feel tightso now like you I am double cleanse.first with cetaphil to get rid all the make up then with Biotherm(it was a free gift so if it runs out I might consider buying again.but not all of the product coz its quite expensive) hahah.my own 2 cents of thought.
The whole idea behind oil cleansing is that like attracts like. Oil dissolves oil—and so it's supposed to be the very best thing for removing ALL traces of makeup, grime and sebum without stripping or irritating your skin. Because if you've ever used a toner, you know that most regular cleansers tend to fail on the job. In the beauty mainstream, probably the most famous example of an oil cleansing product is, which was first introduced in 1960 and now comes in all kinds of variations for different skin types. Is different to the because it contains botanical oils like apricot, sunflower, orange and lavender instead of the nasty mineral oil. But both products basically work the same way: you massage the oil into dry skin to remove all the grime, etc., and then gradually add some water to emulsify (it will turn white).
Then you rinse with water—but actually encourages you to wash again with your regular cleanser. (Not sure if this is a marketing thing designed to make you buy another separate product. Or because some people don't get all the oil off and need to wash again.) Anyway, I have used the product and like it much, much better than the. It also smells terrific. Ever in pursuit of clearer, glow-ier, more poreless and perfect skin. I recently came across a new discovery.
Did you know that there is actually an older, cheaper, all-natural and some say even more effective way of cleansing called the Oil Cleansing Method (or OCM)? It's a bit of a cult secret but extremely popular on several beauty forums (see:, and ).
And what it's supposed to do is not only clean your skin but also dissolve blackheads and clogged pores, improve cystic acne, tighten pores and even improve the appearance of wrinkles. Sounds amazing, right? Here's what it involves: 1. To dry skin apply a blend of castor oil and either olive, jojoba, grapeseed or sunflower oil. You need to play around with the ratios to find one that works for your skin, but because castor oil is very deep-cleansing it should only comprise 50 percent or less of your mixture. The castor oil is the stuff that really draws out the blockages in your pores.
Massage the oil into your skin for 5-10 minutes. Then wipe your face, rinse the towel and repeat a few times. There's no emulsification step—you're just steaming and then wiping away the oil several times. At this point all of it (along with the dirt) should be gone, so you shouldn't have to wash your face with a regular cleanser or toner. But if in doubt, I'd wash again, since it's very, very important not to leave any trace of that now-dirty oil on your skin. How often you cleanse this way is up to you. But here's what happened to me when I tried this for just a week or so.
I dropped down my percentage of castor oil to about 25 percent, and continued. But then it was like I had a rash all over my chin. Almost like an allergic reaction—I think I developed what's known as comedogenic acne. Except then the rash turned, in places, into the worst cystic breakout I've ever had. Who knows if that was caused by the dryness (since a layer of dead skin can clog pores) or the oils, or a combination of both? But at that point I had to say sayonara to the Oil Cleansing Method. And now I'm kicking myself for overreaching, because with and, everything was going SO WELL.
[UPDATE: I no longer recommend cod liver oil and instead.] Now, I'm working on trying to heal these little (okay, maybe not so little) suckers the OCM left as a goodbye present on my chin. Will I try it again? I know I definitely removed all traces of the oil, so that wasn't what made my skin freak out. I'm wondering if I just used the wrong type of oil (olive is supposed to be more comedogenic than jojoba, for example). And overall, I'm a bit frustrated, because the testimonials I've read about how the OCM has transformed people's skin are simply aMAZing.
I want some of that skincare goodness! Get the products In the meantime, I'll stick to my over-the-counter oils.
