I used the organic IE unzip utility for Win7, but i only have the one Zip file. I don't know if it would handle the Z01 files via the procedure uncovered by Silvershadow. I found that the program isn't particularly buggy once it is installed but it does take a bit more user effort to get it installed and running on a PC. ElsaWin isn't the most intuitive program to use and requires some patience to use, but the effort seems worth it. The user name and password are embedded in a separate file that unzips with the rest.
I was waiting to see how you got on because I'm pretty certain what they have is culled from ElsaWin or one of the dark forums. With that in mind, an install (assuming it is from an above source) is not that easy. The vehicle specific data file is huge containing hundreds of small files each with a CRC file validation checksum and in an old graphics format. If the graphics converter format file is not on their disc, you have to get it from the Microsoft site and install it to see any diagrams.
Extracting and installing from DVD, if that is what they distribute, can be troublesome, because their DvD's will be electronically burned copies and not pressed. With such large files and lengthy install, file extraction errors are likely. The same is true if you attempt a download. Make sure you have a decent internet speed and download at night when the web is quiet. Although you may get and post up error messages, these may be false and the real problem is corrupt source files, either from the download or installing direct off a DVD.
In some respects you are actually better off starting with a physical DVD, rather than a file download. You need a decent PC with lots of hard drive storage, preferably on the C Drive. Although I don't like that, it is a better guarantee of the install working. First copy DVds to a temporary folder using a slowish read speed, then install from there. But even that is not straight forward if there is more than one disc, because you need to install each DVd to a separate folder.
The reason is some filenames on each disc can be the same, but with different content. O.K so that is the PC primer for today.
What they have on their servers will probably work, so don't slag them off too soon! There is no guarantee with your internet connection that you will download the huge file with many sub files error free.
If you say 'I've downloaded a film DVD O.K'. Well they can work with errors because you just get a flash across the screen during errors. But large and many datafiles with errors will not get past the installer, which must see no file errors for the install to succeed. Try taking another download at night if they will agree, then do a file comparison check to see if there is any difference - be patient a bit by bit file comparison could take a while. If the second file downloaded is larger, then you also know you had files missing the first time.
I have the DVD but am unable to find a utility to extract the files. WinRAR and WinZip are not working. Emanualsonline now want me to download directly but it uses up about 90% of my monthly download allotment with my internet provider and then I drop to 'dial up speed' which is agonizing. I paid extra for the DVD just so I would not have to download directly. Download Lagu Glenn Fredly Terserah Gratis there. Two weeks ago when I purchased the downloadable version, I used up my entire allotment and had to deal with dial up speed until today when my allotment was renewed for the next 30 days. I only got the manual 2/3rd of the way downloaded before I went down to dial up speed which would cause me to download for a week before completion.
This is a catch 22 situation. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
I think I just pissed away $30 for nothing. For me to add more download time from my Satellite server, I have to spend another $30 go my service provider.
I need to quit and cut my losses. Having the physical DVD is a good start. Yep you can soon blow download limits with these big packages and get the frustration of errors which I explained.
Since this online outfit must be selling these DVDs to others, I would guess any file compression would use the same application. I hope they haven't done a sneaky thing and password protected the extraction without giving it to you! So why not ask Emanualonline to send you the file extraction utility or a link to it if that is what you need? If it is something wierd (WinRar, WinZip and 7z) being most common, then the unzip utility may be version dependent so getting it from them should stand a chance of it working. That download should only be a few tens of megabytes. Remember also that older versions of Windoze like XP did not ship with file extraction utilites except for their own CAB files, whereas newer versions e.g Doze7 and 8 have these addons built in.
Everybody thinks the World is Doze 8 64 whereas my world is XP 32! Hope your world is not DOS 6.1! Does their DVD just have 1 huge file and what is its extension? Or is it 1 huge.exe file? Have a go with this, but extraction only works on an error free file!
Slow copy their DVD file to your hard drive first and try extracting the copied file from there. I have the DVD but am unable to find a utility to extract the files. WinRAR and WinZip are not working.

I need to quit and cut my losses. David, Please check the file index on the DVD for me - if possible take a screen shot of the index [SHIFT + PrtSC], paste it into a Word/Open Office document and email it to me so I can try and find the key file to open the contents. There has to be a.zip or.exe file somewhere on the disc to allow it to be accessed and the files extracted by right clicking the file then Open or Extract from the menu.
You are fortunate to have the DVD and not a download as this is less likely to have errors than a download however there could be a disc or burning defect causing a problem. The supplier should have done a file verification after burning the DVD to check for errors but this may not have been the case.
Just in case your WINZIP utility is not functioning correctly, there is an alternative [PowerArchiver] as detailed on the following link [of course run a virus check on the download before using]: The Cnet download site also has this software. After spending a few hours, yes, a few hours, with personal internet help from Chad at eManualOnline, I finally got the Eos manual operational using my DVDs. It was very difficult due to the fact that the written instructions within the DVDs are not as detailed as the real world install.
However, Chad did a splendid job babying me through the process. Or, maybe I am not as computer 'Smart' as I thought I was. It would have been so much simpler if I could have just directly download the Eos manual.
However, due to the fact that I only have 10 Gigs of high speed service per 30 day period before my computer slows to 'Dial Up Speed', I couldn't afford to waste my 'High Speed' allotment on a download. The entire manual would have spent most of those 10 Gigs and then I would have had to suffer most of the rest of my 30 days with a very, very slow computer while on the internet.
The total size of the manual after installation is 34.6 Gigs. But in the end, it was worth the time and effort, as the manual is very comprehensive. I have invested $30 but if I could have downloaded directly, it would have only cost me about $15. On the plus side, at least I do have the DVDs for use in the event my computer decides to take a dump someday during a fast moving but intense thunder/lighting storm, or just because it feels like taking a dump. The bottom line is, in my humble opinion, the manual is a good investment if anyone here will be doing their own repairs, etc.in the future.
Get ready for a big download or a little extra cash and a week or so waiting for delivery of the set of DVDs from 'Jolly Olde'. Between the eManualOnline product, a VCDS dongle from Ross-Tech, and a decent set of tools, there isn't much you won't be able to do to or for your Eos. The user name and password are embedded in a separate file that unzips with the rest. ElsaWin is what eManuialOnline uses. Like you said, it isn't very intuitive like WinZip, but then again, it is freeware. WinZip used to be free but now it has a short trial period and then costs $30. However, 'Elsie' does quite well handling all those files once past the learning curve.
I misspoke when I said Elsawin. I meant to say, eManualOnline uses WinRAR as their preferred download utility. Google ELsaWin and you will find out it is not Freeware! I will admit that working with a virtual computer is something very new to me. EManualOnline operates using Elsawin on a virtual Windows XP as a guest on my Windows 7 host.
It may not be free but it was included with their DVDs and may have been included in the price of the DVDs. But, like I said, this is quite new to me.
The bottom line is that it is working just fine and the amount of info in these DVD downloads is huge. The other thing that amazes me is that the program covers all VW vehicles, not just the Eos. MODERATOR ADVICE: In the past 24 hours there have been a number of posts from a new poster FACTORYMANUALS. These have been deleted as they constitute commercial advertising by a non-supporting vendor and the poster provided a false location when registering. Past experience has indicated this is often associated with links that may involve the installation of malicious software when opened. It may also involve the use of pirated software which has not been licenced by the copyright holder.
For these reasons, it is suggested anyone who has accessed the links in the posts should run full computer virus scans immediately and be vigilant for any unusual computer behaviour that may indicate the presence of a malware installation. Hi All, Jumping on an old thread I know but I bought the following manual (download and not DVD) from this link and the installation instructions which included using a virtual machine to open it. That part went smoothly, however, I cannot see the index of manual pages showing the various systems and procedures when I open it. I have put VW Eos etc as the vehicle type but I don't see any tabs for the pages of the manual.
Could someone who got this manual when the thread was first started please explain what I need to do once I have opened the program and I'm in the manual. Best Regards, KristLee. If these manuals are based on ElsaWin they require you know the model, engine and gearbox codes. The EOS only has two - Early is 1F7 and later facelift is 1F8. Gearbox is what you have.
All the VAG group vehicles models have a different code. It's hard to find full information but the code of sorts is buried in the VIN number, although MY07 says 1FZ7 when the manual input requires 1F7. Be aware that live manual information online from ERWIN is VIN specific including your factory fitted options, whereas these downloads can be generic and misleading in areas of detail like wiring and fuses. Once you have identified your EOS engine, you may be able to find a Haynes manual for another VAG vehicle with the same year engine. I use the GolfV for my diesel BMM engine. It won't help you with EOS specific items like the roof and wiring though.
Hi Vox, I have installed it correctly and it opens in virtual Windows XP as per instructions. I have selected the correct Eos code for the year but I'm still not getting any menus for any procedures. Not to bothered about engine procedures as I know I can get that information elsewhere due to it being used in other marques. I'm mostly interested in Eos specific reading such as trim removal, part placement etc. The website for this emanual has some great screenshots of examples of the pages but I just can't seem to find them. On a more happy note it has been a fantastic day which gave me another chance of doing some al fresco driving earlier. Best Regards, KristLee.
Without knowing the kind of software you got or how it was packaged it's difficult to help. If it is ElsaWin based, the file structure and software is from the dynosaur era and runs slow in virtual PC!
Drawings require Adobe SVG viewer to be installed (Legacy) which is still around as a download. It only installs on 32bit OS Windoze. If you get it working you will want to image the install or virtual folder because it can be a pain to fix. The best way to work with these kind of offerings is to find and buy a stand alone running version on a large memory stick where somebody else has done the pre-install work. The full DvD suite of several VAG models could take a day to install and get working. Buy the Bentley product where you get support.

Hi Vox, It was this one I bought after following one of the links in this thread All is good now, I just hadn't confirmed that I'd read the notes pop up window (instead of clicking ok/done I was just closing the pop up by clicking the x in the corner). Raving Rabbids 2 Wii Download more.
You are right though being ElsaWin it is quite slow to navigate through the menus and options when they are selected but I am very pleased with the level of the descriptions and diagrams/pictures on how to carry out various tasks. Overall for a tenner it isn't a bad workshop manual to have on my laptop. Best Regards, KristLee.
