2017 International Festival of Lights November 18 – December 31, 2017 Creating holiday magic for a brighter world is what Battle Creek’s International Festival of Lights is all about. Once again, this traditional festival of lights will return in all its splendor and beauty to delight visitors from both near and far.

'Twas the Night Before Hanukkah: The Musical Battle Between Christmas and the Festival of Lights.

Colorful displays sparkle and shimmer along the Battle Creek River, and light the way along State Street every night throughout this festive event. Families, individuals, and children of all ages stroll through the twinkling lights to experience the magic and beauty of the season. Laughter and singing are often heard as festival goers simply cannot resist getting into the holiday spirit. Activities and Schedule of Events Warming House - Sponsored by Bronson Battle Creek This annual tradition serves as a festive gathering place for chilly festival goers on Saturday evenings. Visitors can warm up with hot chocolate and other treats, chat with Santa, and enjoy a different fun children’s activity each Saturday.
This year, each week’s warming house will be hosted at a different venue around downtown Battle Creek to give festival goers the chance to explore all the wonders that Battle Creek businesses have to offer! Drop-off and pick-up conveniently located at the warming house of the week. Parade and Open House - November 18th Come downtown and get your spot for the downtown Christmas parade and the official start of the Festival of Lights! Before the parade, be sure to check out the Battle Creek Community Foundation for their Holiday Open House which will feature a variety of fun activities! Crafting in the Creek Day – November 25 th Let the magic of the season spark your creative side!
On this day from 5:00pm-8:00pm, different crafters will be stationed at businesses around the city to lead festival goers in creating arts and crafts they can take home! These may include painting, jewelry making, ornament design, kid’s crafts, etc. With crafts in various degrees of complexity, this event will be fun for people of all ages!

Downtown December Day – December 2nd There is nothing better on a chilly December day than a good book! From 5:00pm-8:00pm, join us at Battle Creek Books for holiday story book readings and other fun holiday themed activities. Santa will be giving out FREE holiday books to kids while supplies last, sponsored by Southern Michigan Bank and Trust!
Live Nativity Scene – December 8th-10th The FREE community-run presentation begins on the half hour from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Location: Commerce Pointe, 77 E. Michigan Avenue Festive Games and Athletics Day – December 9th This is a day for getting out and active this holiday season!
Check out the Tinsel Toes 5K. Afterwards, join us downtown from 6:30pm-8:00pm for free snow bike races and children races down Michigan Ave, coordinated by Trek Bicycle Store. A Team Trivia contest will follow from 8:00pm-10:00pm at the Cricket Club!
Follow us on for more details as the events draws closer. Caroling in the Creek Day – December 16th This singing extravaganza will put the whole city in the holiday mood! We will be inviting local singing groups and choirs to participate in this caroling contest. There will be prizes, refreshments, and various holiday entertainments. A karaoke contest will follow at one of the local businesses!
