Welcome to MGI PhotoSuite Platinum Edition 4.1 for Win8! Years back when people began using IE as a core to make software, real programmers said, WTF!?!? Your going to use an unstable PoS like IE as the core of your program? Sadly, some people did just that. Most programs were ****, but MGI stood out as a success so much so that even after half a dozen OS's and nearly a decade, it is still a competitor in the graphic tools industry.

Unfortunately, after Corel bought out the company, they abandoned MGI and its many users. Next, enter Windows 8 with a new IE10 that no longer supports the codeing used by hundreds of programs world over. MGI broke and Corel didn't care. In my book, that makes MGI ABANDONWARE. Further, I love the damn tool and want it to work on Win8. I followed blogs and forums for months, yet no one could come up with a fix.

Finally, I said screw it, I'd do it myself. And so, with no further ado, here it is. MGI PS PE 4 with the 4.1 upgrade. It is in the form of a Portable Application. It works on both 32/64bit OS's from WinXP up. It does not include the extras CD but those can be added later, if you can actually find the disk anymore.

How did I do it? I created a virtual PC; sandboxed it; installed WinXP 32bit; stripped out IE5 (uninstall, delete folder, cleared registry); downloaded IE7, MGI, ThinApp; Implimented DeepFreeze; Started ThinApp; installed IE7, do NOT do the internet upgrades; Installed MGI, patches, upgrades and configured it; Finished ThinApp using USB portable executable settings; Included viewers and cleaner tools; Tada!

No tinkering with IE10 needed; No having to install old IE; No installer at all. Just run and enjoy!

Windows 7 is very similar to W98, WXP and W7. W8 is far removed from these familiar operating systems and people are pulling their hair out about. A world-wide poll is showing that 30% of W8 owners are adapting and are basiscally happy with W8, the other 70% hate W8 and are returning them and buying W7 online from reputable retailers. If you are able to return the W8 machine then buy a Windows 7 64 Bit system online at amazon.com, tigerdirect.com etc. You'll be in good shape right up to April 2020. I warned my clients around the world in July of 2012 to walk into their local retail store and buy Windows 7 Home Premimu 64 Bit before they were replaced with Windows 8 computers. About 200 people followed my suggestion and I got many a 'thank you email' for the heads-up.

You are stuck with IE10 in W8 but if you had W7 (highly recommended) then you would be able to use IE9 for as long as you owned your W7 computer, thus allowing many older programs to work on your system without creating a virtual PC or doing any other totally unnecessary Windows Power User modifications to your system. Great news MGI-4 users!! I just installed the preview version of IE11. I restarted the computer in Safe Mode after it was installed and put my MGI-4 disk into the CD/DVD ROM. After it installed and I restarted the computer, MGI-4 works just fine! Drivers License Parsing Software As A Service there. ! So now we know it was a glitch in IE10's compatibility but NOT in IE11. I think I am the first to post this information on the Internet and I hope you all enjoy the incredible speed of IE11 as well.

Jim, never had the font error myself: below are the font's installed Fonts Installed with PhotoSuite 4 The installation program for PhotoSuite 4 has added the following fonts to your system: • Adolescense • Banjoman Open Bold • Bermuda Solid • Creepy Regular • Curlz MT • EraserDust • Falstaff Festival MT • Figaro MT • Footlight MT Light • KidTYPEPaint • Mistral AV • Orbus Multiserif • Palace Script MT Semi Bold • Plump MT • Space Toaster • Team MT Bold • Twentieth Century Poster • Wendy Medium These fonts are used in the content files supplied with Roxio PhotoSuite 4. Note: KidTYPEPaint and Adolescense fonts cannot be underlined. This is a font problem in any graphic application running under Windows 95 and Windows 98. Underlining these fonts works properly in Windows NT.

Also, some letters may appear cut off when using Wendy font. Adding spaces to the beginning and/or end will solve the problem.
