My dealer 'assured' me it is an 09 cylinder, but the transfer ports all still look hand finished. Nothing by the looks of it, I have a barrel with a 9 on it, but its 1999, not 2009.

The part number is cast on every 09 cylinder, showing its new tech spec. I hope there's another way, other than obviously opening up the engine and having a look. Which would be a bit expensive to do. From 2007 all barrels have a number stamped on them from JAG's like a serial number in a way, so if the barrel says 9 but doesn't have the other number then it's a 99 not.

I am not impressed by the general quality of the component, the transfer ports still have a burr, it has been pressed into the port before they were nikasil coated but it is still there. The PRD cylinders I have seen make the Rotax ones look like a crude attempt.

Something I was told. Only the top of the exhaust will be milled. Rotax have stated that that is the only area of concern!
