I'm looking to use up my empty battery tray to store tools. The glovebox is cool, but I'd prefer to keep my gloves in it. Did a quick search on some lambretta specific sites, the old forum and stores, then did a look-see for some ammo boxes without much luck.
Anyone on here make use of an empty battery tray for misc storage, oil and tools? The tray itself, mine at least is 2.5 x 5 (x about 8 in tall). I saw a camera bag at staples but thought it'd be cooler to find something metal to put there and strap down. I may get the mag-side tray eventually but for the time being. Just because sometimes I'm a nitpicky jerk: The 'glovebox' mentioned is not a glovebox.
It's a toolbox. It was designed, built, and intended to function as a toolbox. Naturally, one can put whatever one wants in their toolbox and then rename it to match it's contents. Jtoks wants his toolbox to be a glovebox, while mine is still a toolbox. It has also occasionally performed the temporary functions of glovebox, first aid kit, and booze-box (among other thing) but, at the end of the day, it's always a toolbox.
Way ahead of you. For some time now when restoring a battery model for customers who thankfully don't want a flimsy box of boiling acid suspended over beautiful paint and gleaming mechanicals, I convert the battery to an empty box and use it for storing the parts you need but rarely use, Bulbs, inner cables, Ferrules, M4, 5, 6, and 8 nuts etc. For Series 1 & 2 I have also made dummy batteries from composite wood(painted black) with an original lid to hold either a small safe gel or mat battery or those spares mentioned above.
