After installing Steinberg Cubase 5 on my DAW PC and patching it up to version 5.5.0, I discovered a problem with any projects that used the Groove Agent ONE drum VST. Whenever the projects loaded, I'd get an error that said, 'Groove Agent ONE failed to locate x samples.' The Cause For some reason, sometimes the Cubase installer places Groove Agent ONE's vstsound files into the wrong folder. It's possible the folder location was correct for Cubase 5.0, but it isn't for 5.5. (I think it might have to do with whether you decide to install Cubase 'for all users' or 'only me' at setup, but I can't confirm this for sure, because I don't always pick the same thing when asked that question- and I haven't kept track of which option I chose for various programs.) Note It is actually VSTSOUND files that are missing, by the way. Ludovico Einaudi Primavera Midi Download Sites.
Even if you see error messages about specific WAV files that are missing, those WAVs are actually embedded in the various VSTSOUND files that shipped on the Cubase 5 discs. The Solution • Locate the VST Sound files. You'll find them in your computer's ProgramData folder, which is hidden by default in Windows 7. (You can make it visible by going to Control Panel >Folder Options >View and selecting Show hidden files, folders, and drives.) The actual path depends on your computer, but in my case, the path was: C: ProgramData Steinberg Content VST Sound • Copy any VSTSOUND files you find there into the correct location. This location will vary depending on your computer and your Windows user name.
The files are stored in the hidden AppData folder. Again, your exact location will vary, but in my case, it was: C: Users (my username) AppData Roaming Steinberg Content VST Sound Note Like ProgramData, AppData is another hidden folder. You can display it by enabling Show hidden files, folders, and drives in the Folder Options control panel, but there's a nice shortcut: In Windows 7 or below, click the Start button, type%appdata% in the search box and press Enter. This will open up an Explorer window inside your AppData Roaming folder. On Windows 8, just open up an Explorer window and type%appdata% in the address bar. When you press Enter, you'll browse into AppData Roaming. Bonus Content When I first discovered the solution, I noticed there were only two VSTSOUND files ( Drum Loop Expansion 01.vstsound and Groove Agent ONE 03.vstsound) when I was expecting more.
Where were 01 and 02? Turns out you have to run a separate installer to get those files. Here's how: • On the Cubase install DVD, browse into the following folder: Cubase 5 for Windows Additional Content VST Sound • Inside the folder you'll find the Groove_Agent_ONE_Content installer. Run that, and if given the choice, select the correct folder to install the files (the one under AppData). Double Manual Piano.
If you install to the default directory, you'll have to copy those files to the AppData folder after the installation's done. Please see my if you're curious about differences in our setups. Pastor Jon, the 'Modify/Repair/Remove' screen means you have installed the content before- perhaps you did a 'Custom' install of Cubase initially, which gives you the choice of installing the Groove Agent content. You can safely choose 'Repair,' which simply copies the files to their original locations. If you are still experiencing issues finding the Groove Agent samples after following the steps in the post, something else may be going on- or you might need to re-check the folder paths where you placed the library files.

Studio One Usage Tips Auditioning MIDI Loops You can navigate to a folder of midi loops using the S1 (Studio One) browser and audition loops before dragging them in to S1. Here's an example using S1's Presence Sampler for the drum sounds: 1. Add an instrument track to S1 (Track ->Add Instrument Track) 2. Go the the S1 browser tab and select 'Instruments' 3. Drag Presence onto the instrument track you added in step 1 4.
Load a drum kit into Presence You can now go to the 'files' section of the S1 browser and audition midi loops and drag them in to build a drum track for your song. This procedure works with ANY software drum program - just substitute your favorite and it will work exactly the same (don't forget to load a kit). The only potential snag is that the mapping of the midi loop and your drum software has to match. Tip: start with just one track (for drums) and make sure it is always selected if you want to audition loops in the browser. If you select another track, the browser will send the midi data to THAT track and not your drum track. Tip: Try using our 'gm mapped' loops with Presence. They are in the 'other midi mappings' folder (NOT the installer).
Note: We offer 3 types of gm mapped loops: type 1 'single track', type 0 and type 1 multi-track. Our free midi includes only type 1 single track. Multi-track files have each drum on a separate track. I hear piano not drums! Midi files have no built-in sound.
What you hear depends entirely on how you use them! Common Mistakes 1. Playing a midi file with Windows media player or Quicktime. This may or not work. It really depends on the midi file's midi channel setting. It's best to use music software such as Studio One when working with midi files.
Other examples are Sonar, Cubase, Reaper, Acid, Live, FL Studio, Reason, GarageBand and Logic. Using the wrong files for your particular drum sounds. Example: using our loops for Addictive Drums with GM (general midi) mapped drum sounds. General Usage Tips 1. Since these are midi files, it best to import them into whatever music software you're using to record your music (GarageBand, Logic, Cubase, etc). Once you have a midi file on a track inside your music software, you need to set the output of the midi file's track to drum sounds (hardware or software). If you're using a drum machine, route the track's output to the appropriate midi out port and turn on your drum machine and speakers.
Just make sure all of the cables are connected, etc. If you're using software drum sounds, load your drum program and assign it to your drum track. Make sure you load a kit as well!
You need to choose the correct format for the drum sounds you're using. We recommend that you start with our 'gm mapped' files in the 'other midi mappings folder'. Our PDF 'read me' file has information about the various formats we support along with other important information. Please understand that your music software may choose a piano (GarageBand is notorious for this) rather than drums after importing one of the loops.
If it does, switch the output to drums! Tutorials describing how to use midi files and 'software instruments' should be available. YouTube is another great place to learn about using your particular software with midi files (as well as just about anything else).
Finally, please contact us if you need assistance and haven't found the answer in our Read Me file. We offer 7-day a week support for our both free midi users and for paying customers.
